School Visits

Mote Farm is in a Higher Tier Countryside Stewardship agreement. There are many elements to these agreements and one we have chosen to participate in is school visits. This is known as ED1: Educational Access. When we host a school visit we claim an educational access payment from the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) which means these visits are free of charge to school groups.

To be able to offer these visits we had to become CEVAS accredited (Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme). This course taught us how to safely host farm visits as well as providing us with lots of ideas for activities on the farm.

For this school groups can visit our farm for a day to enjoy being in the countryside. During their visit they have the opportunity to explore and understand nature, meet the animals, go for a tractor and trailer ride and embrace being in the open air.

As well as offering school visits within the local area we work with the Country Trust, the UK's leading national educational charity connecting children to farms. Their aim is to offer farm visits to children from social and economic disadvantaged areas.

If you are interested in a school visit to Mote Farm and believe your school would qualify please follow the link to learn more.

We host events on the farm every year which are open to the public. Please see all the details below.

Open Farm Sunday:

This is a National Farming Open Day to welcome the public onto the farm to learn about where their food comes from.

Please see the attached flyer.

Please note:

  • Please do not bring dogs to this event, we will have our livestock in the farmyard and they aren't used to dogs and will become stressed.

  • The event takes place on the farm so their is rough ground and uneven terrain.

  • You will be asked to step on a disinfectant mat on arrival and departure, so please wear appropriate footwear.
